Just Another Manic Monday- OOD

Heellloo my lovelies, Hope you had a wonderful weekend. I actually worked all weekend. I love love love my job, but I love love love my real life more. Snuggling on the couch with my little one playing connect four and candy land. Heaven. Last week was spring break for him, so we got lots of snuggle time. This week, though it is back to school and back to all the chores and errands I put off to spend time playing. Still cold outside, but it is spring, so incorporated stripes (and sequins!) into today's outfit to lighten things up. Please ignore the stupid face I am making there just is no explanation, I have no idea what I am doing...

BBQ outfit

My family and I went to a BBQ this evening. It was a relaxed affair, but lots of fun. Today was nice and warm, but I knew it would get chilly so I dressed in layers. I felt pretty and comfortable, so I think this outfit worked.

How an Italish makes Chili

I am Italian and Irish (thus Italish), both cultures are know for their drinking prowess and my family is no exception. So, in theory I should have been drinking a glass bottle of wine while cooking. However as I was responsible for the welfare of my child, I skipped this essential step. I think it still turned out ok...
Begin with EVOO (extra virgin olive oil) a lg pot. Heat to medium and add diced onions and crushed garlic, and dried chili peppers. Cook though and add deer meat (or whatever wild game you are tying to mask the taste of). After leaving the wilds of Maine where I grew up I promised myself that I would never again eat deer, moose, bear, etc. I was actually a vegetarian for 5 years before taking my first bite of a delicious 100% beef burger, anyways I ended up marring a hunter and thus is life. I have a freezer full of meet that I have to use, but that I have the taste of. This is where the chili spices come in. I used to make my own, but now I usually just buy a packet at the store, as it is actually better than anything I would come up with. Add this to the cooking meat. Cook until brown and add 2 cans of whole tomatoes. Add two cans of water. Add beans (I soften my own from dried but feel free to use canned) and simmer until tomatoes are liquefied (a few hours). You can take a nap during this time, go ahead I give you permission, you have worked hard and earned it:) Make sure though that the pot is just simmering so that you don't burn the bottom and end up with a burnt flavor that you have to convince your family was intentional:)
Serve with lots of cheese and avacado on top. YUM!

OOD

Before I started reading fashion blogs I never would have put together this outfit. But, I really like it and I think it worked fairly nicely on my body. The flannel is a little oversized and I really should have it taken in, but it is SO comfortable that I don't think I could bring myself to do it. I also know this should have been accessorized a little more, and on second look I should have changed the shoes. Oh well, I am trying...

What I GOT and what I WANT

I am usually a very good shopper in terms of hunting down sales, using coupon codes, and ebaying it. However, my willpower has taken a nosedive this week with  all the new summer clothes arriving in stores and online. I purchased these shoes this morning in the brown leather. I did get free shipping with code SHOES at Nordstrom.

Nordstrom- MICHAEL Michael Kors 'Belinda' Wedge Sandal   $129.95

And these in the black. Can I just tell you how much I LOVE these shoes. As a size 4 I rarely get to find beautiful heals. I hope they are somewhat comfortable as I would be willing to put up with quite a bit of pain to have these gems on my feet. I seriously want to lick them they are so beautiful. I know gross, I will stop now...

Nordstrom- Badgley Mischka 'Dusk' Pump Was: $200.00 Now: $119.9040% OFF

I am also just about to purchase this fun, practical, and beautiful shirt from anthro. I was shown on strawberryswingandotherthings.blogspot.com and I fell in love. About ten years back I had a shirt that was very similar that I wore until it was in pieces, literaly. I think I can justify this at full price, especially since I got such a great deal on the Badgley Mischka shoes, what do you think?

Cissus Button-Up, Gingham - Anthropologie $88

I am also thinking about these shoes as they are much more practical for my life than giant wedges, not as much fun, but "sigh", such is my life.
Nordstrom Sam Edelman 'Gigi' Sandal $59.95
I am also looking for a cute pair of silk shorts in tan. J Crew had some beautiful ones last year but I waited too long and they were out of my size. I have been searching ever since. I may contact this seller on Etsy and request these in a solid. LOVE!
Etsy MoonCirsus $78

That is it for today's edition of "what I got and what I want" Hopefully I can quell my spending, but I doubt it:)

Date Night

Just a quick post to show what I wore out on a date with my hubby Friday night. I accessorized and wore makeup, and did my hair, but of course did not get a picture when I was actually looking cute, so this is what you get...
Velvet by graham and spencer top xs (love it but had to pin it to my bra to keep it from showing), Citizens jeans in size 25, Michael Kors booties size 5 (with inserts to keep them on:( hate my small feet) Ann Taylor purse)

I heart spring!

Wonderful, wonderful spring! So excited to finally get to wear several outfits I have been stockpiling over the past few months. Yesterday we played golf and went to a friend's house for a BBQ and more KU basketball. I LOVE SPRING!!! I celebration of the season I had several spritzers (pinot grigio and sparkling water). My sister recommended this drink to me and I have taken it as my own and run. It is the perfect solution for a small woman with a very low tolerance for alcohol who also happens to love wine. I can actually have more than one glass since the wine is diluted. Anyways, on to the clothes.

American Eagle blazer from last year, J Crew tee also from last year, Forever 21 skirt xs purchased on sale a few weeks ago (love this skirt, fits great and has pockets), shoes merona from target kids section size 2 (I was pleased to find kids shoes with a wedge, I have been looking for a brown leather wedge in my size these are cheap and won't last very long, but I think I will get my use out of them untill then. They are actually pretty comfortable.)
